if you watch Les Mis backwards, it’s a movie about revolutionary zombies putting away some furniture and a man who flies out of a river to fight crime

We were thinking about the songs when we were writing the script, so some of those songs were there from the beginning. […] It kinda goes to what the heart of folk music is in a way […]There were people obviously writing songs and singing them before Bob Dylan showed up, but the era of the singer-songwriter, there was sort of a pivot happening around then in terms of traditional folk music and people who were writing their own stuff, and Dylan was one of the big catalysts of that. And there was also a sort of obsession with “authenticity” with traditional music, something that early folk people were very concerned with, which was something that had interesting and ironic aspects. That was also something that was interesting to us. - Joel Coen

Heartbreaking Simpsons Moments 1/∞: Bart Gets an F
I never understood why it’s an F if he gets more than half out of 100? Unless it’s more than 100. If you get more than half the answers right how is it an F?
You must not be from America. Here, grading is fucked up.
Average American Grading Scale:
A - 94-96
A- - 90-93
F- 59 and under
oh wow that is fucked up
why do they skip E in america
There’s an E in other grading scales?
And in some places in America it goes by a 7 point scale, so it’d be
A - 100-93
B - 92-85
C - 84-78
D - 77-70
F - 69 and below
Now you understand why American kid’s feel like there’s no point to school. If you have a 100 question text, and get 79 of them correct, that’s a C. That mean’s your Average Intelligence on this particular subject. And it get’s even worse when you have only like… a 10 question quiz. If you get two wrong? that’s a B. 80 fucking %. Now tell me again why American school’s are easier?
And, at least in every school I’ve gone to, a C, despite representing “Average”, is regarded as a bad grade. Getting between 70% and 80% of your answers correct is still worthy of grounding or punishment where I grew up.
And heaven forbid if you try to explain to your parents that there are some teachers who “refuse to give A’s” because they “should represent the unachievable standard of perfection”.
Over here, when I was in highschool, it went:
100 = A+
96-90 = A-
89-80 = B
79-75 = C
75-70 = C-
Anything below a 70 was a fail
Wait, really? That’s messed up. In secondary school here the system’s different:
A - 85 - 100
B - 70 - 85
C - 55 - 70
D - 40 - 55
E - 25 - 40
F - Below 25
I always wondered why so many people in American shows / movies got Fs. Now I understand. That must suck. D:
